BBAP and Spacetaker close the door to the Artist Saloon. The Artist Saloon has featured more than 45 Houston artists working in the literary, visual and performance arts speaking to a cumulative audience of more than 700 Houstonians and visitors. After more than a year of presenting these monthly lectures in partnership, BBAP and Spacetaker have decided to focus on their respective individual programs.
BBAP will return to presenting its original monthly artist lecture series, Slide Show Happy Hour, beginning again in September 2008. BBAP is proud to announce that this programming will be presented at their new office and home in the Box13 ArtSpace located at 6700 and 6702 Harrisburg on the near Eastside.
Spacetaker will continue to present collaborative monthly artist lectures that facilitate dialog and collaboration between the diverse artistic disciplines practiced in Houston, TX. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more information, please contact Chris Shield at

BBAP & Spacetaker Present: The Artist Saloon. Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 at 6:30pm Winter Street Studios, 2101 Winter Street, Houston, Texas
This month BBAP & Spacetaker, in conjunction with Winter Street Studios, present Nick Bontrager, Stephen Marchione, and Susan Silbert in the July edition of the Artist Saloon. Every third Wednesday of the month, the salon and the saloon meet at The Artist Saloon where artists and art aficionados gather for drinks and casual conversation about art. Two to three artists from varying disciplines (visual, performing, literary, etc.) present, in an informal atmosphere, creative dialogs/talks/presentations about their work followed by a question and answer session where the audience can glean further insight into the artist, the artist's aesthetic and creative process. The evening is designed not only to bring together artists and those who appreciate the arts, but also to introduce local artists to each other to encourage conversation and cross-disciplinary pollination between artists and their chosen media. Nick Bontrager , part-artist, part-scientist, produces large-scale multimedia installations which require human or animal interaction for their resolution where his aim is to increase the dynamic effect of the work through the empowerment of the viewer. Stephen Marchione is a master guitar maker who has been crafting instruments for some of the worlds best guitar players in the world since 1989.
Susan Silbert is a glass artist working as an intern for the MFAH. |
